Microsoft Dreamspark

              Channel8 [ www.channel8.msdn..com ], the student community hosted by Microsoft, recently announced a new program, which will give millions of qualified students the opportunity to download Microsoft professional-level developer and design tools at no charge! All that is required is a windows live ID and a verification of your student status in a accredited university or affiliated student organizations. Simple isn't it?
             The program has already kicked-off in 11 countries/regions: the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, China, Germany, France, Finland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Belgium. More countries are being added throughout the year. It is yet to be launched in india but is expected to be launched by the year end.

Do you people really think Microsoft can do something for Students until it does not gain them something...NO!...

This is a marketing strategy to lock down innovation in the software industry. All they want is that the world should be dependent on them. They don't care about innovation & betterment of people.

Act: Ship the development tool for free
Result: More people & more of them students use it.
What we can't see: Apps produced work only on Windows Systems.
Gain for Microsoft: Windows stays as huge number of apps keep coming only for it from dreamspark users.

What would be appreciable: They release an Open/Cross Development Kit so that programmer can code for any platform. That's called contributing to the Society, something Microsoft won't do but Satan can.

In the corporate world a deal is made only if both sides profit from it... I personally do not find anything wrong if I get a copy of a high quality software such as the Visual Studio free of charge. Atleast I do get to create softwares for a platform still used by a majority of the world's computer owners... Also most, not all, of the apps developed in Visual Studio can be made to run on Linux.

I think microsoft is the worst corporation in the history of mankind
having monopoly over the operating system market is not enough for them they want to own the entire application software market too.
hence what they have started doing is they bundle up their applications like(media player,internet explorer) with the O.S so that users get them free and dont have to buy it from other market players.
this happenned first with netscape navigater then with i-tunes now it will happen with speech recognition technology
these people are doing such stuff and when google tries to tie up with yahoo for bringing better customer services they file a lawsuite on google?????

Yeah!!....They have always been a hurdle in true innovation& development.. Microsoft should be disintegrated into at least 5 companies to prevent this in future.

OK...It seems that people instead of discussing the pros-cons of available software in the market are more focused on venting their apprent 'disgust' for software companies here. a reminder here for all - The forum does not exist for the sake of your propoganda against software firms. Its here just for knowledge sharing, period! And Linux lovers of the world! When will you get over your hang-over of Windows and move on? Either kiss and make up (go back to the OS still on your computer) or just stop crying foul about Windows. If you think Linux is all that superior then talk about the superiority of Linux (I personnaly commend Loneowais for his posts on the same issue) and not the inferiority of Windows. That way you'll get your direly needed attention.
