Android - A Google Moblie Platform
Google has launched a software stack for mobile devices that contains an OS, a client/server application (Middleware) and key apps. Applications for the Android Platform can be coded in Java Programming Language.
Andrioid boasts of pretty nifty feature content like an Application Framework, Dalvik Virtual Machine, Integrated Browser, SQLite for database management, decent media support (they missed wma, wmv, bmp - google does manage to make their hate for Microsoft obvious!) Bluetooth, EDGE, 3G, WiFi... and what not...
And what would make the open source guys swoon with happiness is that google is in the process of preparing for the release of the source code of Android which will be somewhere around in the fourth quarter of 2008. For the while, the developers can remain happy with the Android SDK(Software Development Kit) provided at
http://code.google.com/android/download.html
and the google lovers who do have some moolah and contacts abroad can hunt down the G1 phone ( manufacturer - T-Mobile ) which runs the Android Platform. Here's a preview...

Buzzword is all about latest buzz in the technology world ....Last week the first Android enabled phone was launched ....So I guess there is nothing wrong in posting this as "buzzword of this week". What say ?
Re: Android - A Google Moblie Platform
No issues; but still, we can continue in 1 thread if it's already there. That way tracking of topic is easy. And if the new phone is launched, the topic could have been about the phone, not OS.
